FAQs

Visiting a rock gym for the first time can be exciting—and maybe a little intimidating—but don’t worry, we’re here to make it simple. Whether you're brand new to climbing or just checking out a new gym, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know.

What should I bring for my first visit?

Expand icon

Just bring comfortable athletic clothes, a water bottle, and a good attitude! We provide all necessary rental gear, including climbing shoes, harnesses, and chalk bags.

Do I need any experience to climb?

Expand icon

Not at all! Our gym is beginner-friendly, and our staff will walk you through the basics. We offer orientation sessions to help you get started safely and confidently.

Can kids climb too?

Expand icon

Absolutely. We welcome climbers of all ages. Children under 12 are not able to hold the ropes (belay) for other climbers, so an adult will need to belay for younger climbers.

Do I need to book in advance?

Expand icon

Walk-ins are welcome, but booking ahead is recommended for classes or busy hours. You can reserve your spot online or give us a call.

How can I meet people to climb with?

Expand icon

We love introducing people to our community. We have several ways that you can meet new climbers. One of the best is to book in to our Introduction to Climbing Class where we introduce you to climbing and a group of other beginner climbers. Also, our Community Climb Nights are a great way to meet other climbers at Hangdog.
